Junior Curling Resources

Are you looking to join the best sport on ice? The CYCA has compiled a number of resources that can help you get started in the sport via a local curling club's junior program, help curlers find a team or participate in hot shot skills competitions.

Curling Alberta is the provincial organizer and governor of curling in Alberta. The Curling Alberta website provides access to coaching courses, provincial championship registration and curling classifieds for teams and individual curlers.

Connect and Curl is an independent nation-wide website that works to connect curlers with teams and teams with curlers. Users can find an entire list of curlers and spares that are available for competitive and recreational play.

Hit Draw Tap (HDT) is a youth skills competition where kids age 6-12 compete as individuals. HDT will group kids into three different age categories (6-7, 8-9, & 10-12), and perform three different shots – a “hit,” a “draw” and a “tap.”

The Ready to Rock Community-Based program is open to all youth ages 8 to 16. Ready to Rock Community starts with a FREE Try-It Event where participants will be instructed by some of Alberta’s most fun & energetic curling instructors. The Try-It Event will be followed by an 8-week Learn to Curl program where participants will receive 1 hour of curling instruction per week.

Curling Canada's Youth Curling website includes a whole suite of drills for coaches and curling opportunities for all levels of youth to have fun with the game and develop their skills in the sport.

CYCA has compiled a list of junior programs that exist at curling clubs located in Calgary and the surrounding Area. CYCA attempts to keep this information as up to date as possible but the information provided on each program is subject to change.

This one-of-a-kind program offers young athletes under 15 the chance to hone their skills and compete in various singles and triples curling formats against peers from neighbouring provinces and territories. The event aims to provide young curlers with the skills necessary to become well-rounded players in all aspects of strategy and technical development.

The CYCA maintains a list of junior recreational bonspiels that are happening across the province. If you are a club looking to have your bonspiel added to the list email our CYCA Facilitator.
